Album Release Radar: Monkey – Intermittent Waves

Monkey – Intermittent Waves (LP)

Friday, 4th May, 2018: US west coast band Monkey release their sixth longplayer “Intermittent Waves”. After three albums for Asian Man Records, they have been signed by SquidHat Records from Las Vegas for this one.

It’s a cool mix of high-energy ska – driven by their powerful horn section – and more relaxed rocksteady with rough edges added by the guitar. The sound of Monkey is not aimed at copying the original Studio One classics, it takes the inspiration from there, but the musicians add their own flavour. Definitely worth checking out.
It’s available as download, cd AND vinyl LP (link below)
