Dr. Ring Ding And Sharp Axe Band Release Gwaan – March Forth

Dr. Ring Ding - Gwaan

Isn’t it about to become spooky: How Dr. Ring Ding seems to be everywhere these days? You can’t escape the man.

The good thing is: You wouldn’t want to, if you like quality ska & reggae music. After some quieter years, Dr. Ring Ding has been releasing old-school records in diverse combinations at an impressive speed since 2012. From his own Dr. Ring Ding Ska-Vaganza (Europe) to The Bartenders (Poland), Kingston Rudieska (South Korea) … now the Sharpe Axe Band.

This one here is such an easy release. With “Gwaan“, Dr. Ring Ding and his musicians are just enjoying themselves. There is no strict formula or concept being followed. Just some friends laying down cool tracks. Roots, 60s Ska, Jazz – and anything is possible, held together by a common history in music of Jamaican decent. A lot of original songs, some cover versions „Don’t Think Twice“ (Bob Dylan).

The second cd „March Forth“ is reserved for dubs. A great soundtrack for the drive to the festival I’ll be visiting this weekend. A two day festival, and now guess who will be part of the headlining bands on both nights, The Busters and El Bosso & Die Ping Pongs? I told you it’s becoming spooky.
