Boston dub reggae specialists 10 Ft. Ganja Plant release “Skycatcher”, the tenth album in twelve years – not a bad performance record for a band that started out as a side project to more well-known US group, John Brown’s Body.
Whereas last year’s “10 Deadly Shots, Vo. II” was a purely instrumental affair, “Skycatcher” again features singers Ras Jay Champany, Kevin Kinsella (former lead singer of John Brown’s Body) and Nate Silas Richardson. As usual with 10 Ft. Ganja Plant, little is revealed about who exactly plays the instruments, but it is not very hard to hear that a lot of skill and care has gone into the performance and the dubwise production, again courtesy of Craig “Dubfader” Welsh – who has been responsible for some of the best releases in recent years, from The Aggrolites’ Rugged Road to Babylove and the Vandangos, Destroy Babylon or Pressure Cooker.
